Interactive Software Limited alongside the University of Nottingham has been awarded the coveted ‘Most impactful collaboration with academia’ award at the Lab Innovations Lab Awards 2021. The award was achieved for the rapid implementation of the company’s integrated Achiever Medical LIMS solution to support the University’s COVID testing lab in conducting asymptomatic testing of students and staff. The timescales for the project were tight and coincided with students returning to the University after the Christmas break.

The project covered the entire process from the initial registration of testing kits through to the management and communication of results. Achiever Medical LIMS’ interactive, real-time dashboards were configured to deliver detailed analysis on trends, productivity, and efficiency to the members of the University’s management team.

The project was completed within 12 weeks and since the initial go-live the University has rolled out its testing services to other institutions.

The success of the University’s testing process has also led to the University being recommended for accreditation from the government to allow its unique non-invasive saliva testing process to be simplified and sped up by removing the need for a second confirmation NHS test. This accreditation will be the first to be given to a university and the University of Nottingham will be one of only 8 labs specifically accredited for CV-19 testing in the UK.
